From the Business Journal
By Dan O’Brien
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- A dispute with its landlord has forced a popular downtown café to shut its doors. The bistro’s manager says he still hopes, with help from the city, to reopen at a new address in the central business district.
“I had to shut down,” says Jason Logero, manager and co-owner of the Bean Counter Café, which operated on the first floor of the Realty Building. “Right now, I don’t know where we stand,” he said of the business’ future.
The Bean Counter’s last day of business was Nov. 9.

From the Business Journal
By George Nelson
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – City officials are engaged in what Mayor Jay Williams characterizes as “very extensive” discussions with Global Entertainment Corp. regarding the management of the city-owned Chevrolet Centre.
The active discussions were cited as why the city Board of Control deferred action Thursday on an agreement between the city and Global Entertainment Ticketing, or GetTix, and International Coliseums Co., both subsidiaries of the company based in Phoenix.
A review by city officials uncovered a contract between GetTix and ICC, never approved by the Board of Control, that permitted GetTix to charge back to the city-owned arena various costs related to the ticketing operation that should have been borne by GetTix, said Kyle Miasek, Youngstown’s deputy finance director. “There were concerns that we uncovered that we were not in an equal partnership,” said Miasek, who handles the city’s contracts with Global.
