1 week until Pavlik vs. Rubio!  View Printable Version
Saturday, February 14 2009 @ 07:50 PM GMT+5

General NewsHappy Valentines day to all of you!

Before I get some dinner with my wife, I wanted to snap a few pics downtown of some of the recent changes and grab a shot of the Chev for tonight's story... So here goes...

The time is almost upon us when history is made in Downtown Youngstown Ohio at the Chevrolet Centre... Just 7 days from today, Kelly "The Ghost" Pavlik will defend the middleweight titles against Marco Antonio Rubio Live at the Chev in Downtown Youngstown, Ohio.

The amount of tickets sold have already surpassed every other event at the centre with approximately 6900 tickets sold. The DowntownYoungstown.com crew will be covering the event live with updates to the site directly from the Chev with flickr and story updates! Will you be there? If not, feel free to spend the night with us here at DowntownYoungstown.com for all of the live updates and pictures!

Oh and is anyone interested in the three extra tickets I have? Section 209, Row M!

See you next week at the Chev!

Less then three weeks to go and more tickets available?  View Printable Version

General NewsBy Matt Schwartz

You heard it right! Top rank freed up more space and now there are even more tickets available on the floor for just $150 per ticket! While this is already the biggest event the Chev will ever hold, it can now hold even more! Reports are in that Top Rank held some space in the corners of the floor in order to produce their Pay Per View event, but now have decided that the extra space is not needed. That means more seating is now available! Do you have your seats yet?

The new tickets on the floor go on sale at 10:00 AM EST tomorrow morning (Wednesday February 4th, 2009), so if you want to get your hands on some, be logged in to Ticketmaster.com at 10AM sharp to get yours! Otherwise, you just might miss out like so many did on January 10th who waited in line at the Chev all night...

This is your chance to be a part of Youngstown history! This will be the biggest even in the history of the Chevrolet Centre. If you can't be there, don't worry! DowntownYoungstown.com's writer, photographer, and myself will be at the event to bring live updates right here on the night of the fight, so if you can't make it to the Chev, just hang out here for all of the updates!

Thanks for stopping by!

Matt

5 weeks and counting: Pavlik vs. Rubio  View Printable Version

General NewsBy Matt Schwartz:

So its been 7 days since the Pavlik vs. Rubio tickets went on sale... and we have all read the stories of the fans who were literally left out in the cold that morning at the Chevrolet Centre. Ticket prices are soaring on both Craigslist and Ebay, but hopefully you got some. Exactly five Saturday nights from tonight, downtown Youngstown will see a major boxing event that is sure to have downtown traffic unmanageable.

One event that I have not heard of yet is an official afterparty... Does anyone have the 411 on this? In Atlantic City, you can usually catch the official afterparty at Cesars, but what about Youngstown? I'll see what I can dig up there!

Don't forget that if you can't make the fight, and don't want to drop $59.99 on the PPV, you can lounge around here (DowntownYoungstown.com) for the night! We will be mobile blogging from the chev with frontpage story updates and adding photos to our mobile flickr (see the menu bar on the left) - We will also be updating to various other social sites and posting to twitter! Oh and if there is an afterparty, we'll be there too and will send out the information!

For now, I want to hear some of the readers thoughts, plans, ideas, etc for that night... Check out the forums (link in the left and top menu bars) for the latest discussion on 2/21/09 or in other words Pavlik vs. Rubio in Downtown Youngstown Ohio!

Until next time...
